Plot Overview
The film “Satya” is based upon the Indian culture and tells about the life of twelve years old Sathya who belongs to a lower middle class family of four. The movie also introduces Sathya’s father, Gandhi, who is the only earning member in the family.

The film, however, does not shy away from depicting the toll on people because of such measures. Sathya appreciates his father’s struggle, but is burdened by the need to be something everyone expects him to be.
As the film moves towards the conclusion, it raises pertinent issues regarding the weight of responsibility on the next generation – to what extent is it reasonable to expect children to emulate their parents? Is it possible to escape from poverty and yet retain the virtue of ‘home’?

The purpose of this film is achieved in full measure only because of Vaali Mohan Das Murugan, who is the director of ‘Satya’. It draws most of its stylistic features from the film industry, but is restrained in its presentation.
Natural lighting complements the settings in such a manner that it appears as though the viewer is crash landing into Sathya’s life.
